E-Clones

In Frank Herbert's novel The Jesus Incident, E-Clones are cloned human beings who are created for specific tasks. As such they are depicted as coming in many different shapes and sizes - tall, skinny, dwarves, giants, as well as with many different configurations of body parts - skinny necks, large floppy ears, huge eyes, small eyes, long ropey arms, etc. They are generally treated as subhumans but are given full status at the end.

Ichixidea

Ichixideas (otherwise known as "Blood ticks") are common parasites which infest all levels of Hell. Blood ticks range in size from a few millimeters to the size of a grapefruit after feeding. Ichixideas use their powerful back legs to latch onto prey in a grip which makes them virtually unremoveable.

Like all of Hells' "wildlife," Ichixideas are often distorted and mutated due to the conflux of dark magics and demonic energies.

Qhephext

Qhephexts are a race who evolved from grassland dwelling, herding animals. The long snout was originally an adaptation to allow them to graze on short grasses, but also allows for a very large and rich vocal range. They tend to find work as announcers, singers, and voice-over artists.

mizzplit

Mizzplits are small, scuttling creatures evolved from land dwelling plankton. They share characteristics of both animal and plants. Like plants they must have access to sufficient water and sunlight in order to produce food internally via photosynthesis. Their "root system" has been adapted into rudimentary legs, although the creature must remain rooted while feeding.

Mizzplits are considered an "emerging intelligence" and are thus isolated by most other races, although several populations have been discovered on other worlds. How these populations were transplanted remains a mystery.

Shraggot

Shraggots are creatures evolved from intestinal parasites. They live in rudimentary troops with an alpha male head, similar to chimpanzees or baboons. Sraggots tend to have a rough territory centered around a lake or stream where the females will deposit eggs into the muddy banks, just under the water line. The young spend the first six months of their lives in the water, only venturing out on land when they reach breeding age. The eggs are often poached as they are considered a delicacy by several species.

Ao-Ao

The Ao-Ao is one of seven children of the evil spirits Tau and Kerana in the mythology of the GuaranĂ­ people of South America. He is depicted as either a gigantic, carnivorous warthog, or a half-human, half warthog ogre-like creature The creature hunts and eats men as his primary food source, including their clothes. The only way to effectively escape from him is to climb a palm tree, which holds some sort of unknown power over the Ao-Ao and will cause him to run away frustrated.

Azeluqot

Azeluqots are small, blue, puffy humanoids that live underground in large warrens. They prefer to live a simple existence of subsistence foraging and farming. The primary staple of their diet is a type of underground fungus, which the Azeluqots grow in vast caverns. They prefer to stay out of sunlight as much as possible, as bright lights tend to hurt their eyes.

The Yiddabloath are a race evolved from land dwelling squids. As such they do not possess a skeleton, and can only walk upright in low gravity environments similar to their own. Yiddabloath society is based around very loose knit clans which constantly war with one another, although they will join together to repel common threats.

Logarachix

Logarachix demons are demons which have used dark magics and rituals to reconfigure themselves into a long, crocodile like shape. They occupy specially built temples with small, oblong passageways, which only creatures of a similar bodytype can navigate. The Lgarachix cult tends to stay neutral during Hell's many conflicts. They often act as emissaries and ambassadors.

Tarags are omnivorous porcine-like creatures from a harsh jungle planet. They have a very effective sense of smell, which allows them to track prey for up to 10 km (5 miles.) The creatures are bred as pets or for their meat by many different species.

Chromia

Chromias are smallish, multidimensional entities which are capable of moving through dimensional barriers at will. As they are not truly "native" to this dimension, how they appear to us is a mere projection. Chromias speak with each other by rapidly changing various color patterns on their skin, although they are capable of communicating with other races through a limited form of telepathy.

Forest Troll

Forest Trolls are a breed of troll that prefer to live in the deep, dank forests, where the canopy doesn't allow through too much sunlight. It has been rumored that if such creatures are exposed to full sunlight they may turn to stone. During the day such creatures usually seek shelter in caves, bury themselves in the ground, or conceal themselves with thick shrubbery, though at night they venture forth to pick off the lone traveler or raid nearby settlements.

Villipede

Villipedes are titan millipedes which have been known to measure 6 feet at the shoulder and up to 42 feet in length. The creatures hatch in mass after a roughly seven year cycle and begin to feed on all organic matter. After a hugely destructive migration southwards the mating ritual is completed, whereupon all Villipedes quickly die off and the cycle begins anew. The massive insects have been responsible for destruction of countless lives and millions in property damage.

King Faroud

King Faroud is the last in a long line of ancient guardian deities, who once ruled over the primitive tribes of mankind. The guardians occasionally fell into dispute amongst themselves and found it necessary to challenge each other to battles of tooth and claw. King Faroud found himself defeated and sealed into a volcano at the end of one such battle, his territory and wards ceded to the titan vulture, Throshti. Kind Faroud was not destroyed however, but found himself in a deep sleep, which lasted for untold ages.

Until the day came when the king was freed from his prison. The men who freed him had no idea what they had unleashed, and were merely looking to drill for natural resources. King Faroud had finally risen again, to find himself the last guardian among a world where the devious and poisonous machinations of mankind have been allowed to run rampant. King Faroud would heal his blighted Earth, but first he must remind mankind of their place in the order of things.

ManCarp

ManCarps are genetically engineered chimeras combining DNA from human beings and various types of fish. The original intention was to create an artificial source for an effective cholesterol fighting medicine, however the resulting creature showed near human level intelligence. It wasn't long before the specimens escaped the lab, and with their ability to move both over land and in water easily eluded capture. ManCarps are still seen occasionally in the wild marshes and swamps of southern Florida's keys, where it is believed a small population still persists to this day.

Kpskiet

Kipkiets are slow moving, spiky beetle-like creatures which live in deep forests. They tend to dwell along the heavily shaded forest floor, where the creatures root through the detritus and top soil for small prey. When threatened Kipkiets withdraw into their shells in behavior similar to turtles.

Potato Monkeys are strange, tuberous mutations resulting from a group of wild Rhesus monkeys consuming a pile of radio active potatoes. They still retain their wild and crazy monkey mannerisms, with the additional protection of being able to see in multiple directions at once.

Itchlodyte

Itchlodytes are primitive, proto-fish men which live in a small nomadic community along a deep pacific trench. They follow a large pod of whales and exploit them the same way that Native Americans followed herds of buffalo. This has brought them into open conflict with whaling vessels, who they view as destroying their way of life. Itchlodytes have been known to foul propellers, drill holes into ships, or board them and fight hand to hand in extreme cases.

They are by nature peaceful and generally have a very positive outlook on life, so much so that those of other species who interact with them sometimes find them "annoying." They tend to find work as actors, athletes, television and radio personalties, and motivational speakers.

Roostra

Science student Betsy Bernhard entered a pair of genetically engineered super chickens in her 7th grade science fair, narrowly beating out Jose "Penuthead" Gonzoles and his giant robot ICBM-X for the blue ribbon. Penuthead swore revenge and directed his metal monstrosity to destroy the super chickens. When all hope seemed lost Bernhard unleashed Roosta, a gigantic genetically engineered super rooster. Roosta, ICBM-X, and the super chickens destroyed most of the city in their battle, until both were disqualified.

The first prize ribbon went to Wesley McGillis and his model of the solar system made from coat hangars and Styrofoam balls. His parents are very proud of him.

The Sun Tribe

The Sun tribe is a group of stranded xenophobic creatures who live in a secluded village deep in the Sahara desert. The moniker "Sun tribe" comes from local legends which depict them as hideous monsters that feed on lost children, although scholars today generally hold such tales as pure myth. The large, vein-like protuberances which cover the skin are part of an intricate organ system designed to capture water from the air. They tend to shun outsiders, and have very limited contact with humans. It has been theorized that they are extraterrestrial.

Spinnerets


Spinnerets were so named by early deep space explorers due to their unique form of locomotion. The creature will engage in a series of cartwheels, like a spinning disc. Spinnerets have been measured moving at incredible speeds of 160 kph (80 mph) or more. Strangely they do not possess eyes, ears, or any other common sensory organs, yet have shown behavior which clearly shows they are capable of observing the outside world in some capacity. Currently the method by which the creature "sees" is unknown.

Teliskviqk

The Teliskviqk are an elongated race of agrarian farmers and cattle ranchers. Their physiology defies classification, sharing characteristics of both plant and animal. During the Teliskviqk's sleep cycle the "toes" burrow into and extract nutrients from the ground like roots. In addition the green skin coloring is the result of photosynthesis. They also have a digestive tract and must ingest plant matter and animal protein to survive.

The Mjertovjec is an undead werewolf, native to Russia and eastern Europe. To destroy the Mjertovjec you had to sprinkle poppy seeds along the road leading from the tomb to the house of the deceased. Final disposing of the body involved pinning it through the chest with a stake, or burning.

The Cyclosaurus is a strange beast which inhabits a "lost world," recently discovered in an isolated African volcanic crater. The creatures inhabit an ecological niche similar to crocodiles. The large central eye gives the Cyclosaurus excellent night vision, and what the creature lacks in depth perception is made up by an extremely sensitive olfactory sense.

They have the ability to independently control each of their four eyestalks and can thus look in multiple directions at once. They are extremely intelligent, and have a highly developed society with their own government, courts, and institutions of higher learning. Sprittles tend to isolate themselves from the larger world but will take direct action to protect their territory.
