Trojleen
Trojleens began as an offshoot of simple forest gnomes who came into contact with a strange meteorite which crashed into their secluded village. The strange energies from the extraterrestrial rock mutated the poor gnomes into a terrible, demented state. Despite their apparent mindlessness, Trojleens still main a modicum of an organized life, living in villages, protecting young, etc. They will fearlessly attack any creature which enters their territory, and have been known to gang up and tackle those many times their size.

Forest Troll
Forest Trolls are a breed of troll that prefer to live in the deep, dank forests, where the canopy doesn't allow through too much sunlight. It has been rumored that if such creatures are exposed to full sunlight they may turn to stone. During the day such creatures usually seek shelter in caves, bury themselves in the ground, or conceal themselves with thick shrubbery, though at night they venture forth to pick off the lone traveler or raid nearby settlements.

Dragon Men
Dragon men are a race of ancient human-dragon hybrids, created by the ancient Dragon lords to be used as higher minions. In times past the Dragon men acted as generals and lieutenants overseeing the battles between vast armies as the Dragon lords warred among themselves. In the cataclysm brought about by the constant battle this race of hybrids nearly perished. They have survived by isolating themselves in various hidden places of the world, waiting for the time when their slumbering lords may yet rise again and renew the conflict.

Slig
In Frank Herbert's Dune novels, a Slig is a slug/pig hybrid created by the Bene Tleilaxu. They are bred for their meat (described as "The sweetest meat this side of heaven,") and for their ability to feed on and control garbage. The Tleilaxu themselves do not eat Slig meat, which they regard according to their strict religious practices as "unclean."

Cainaline Dragon

Cainaline Dragons are have a long, winding body type, are warm blooded, and are covered in hair. The older the specimen is, the longer it grows. Cainalines are natural magic users. Most adults develop the ability to fly by harnessing the Earth's ambient magical energy. Cainalines will usually focus their innate magical abilities towards the pursuit of one (usually positive) emotion or concept, such as love, vigor, happiness, wisdom, or Luck. They are generally good natured and friendly towards humans, although "evil" Cainalines are known to exist.

Felidade Dragon

A type of dragon with an erect body type and feathered wings. Felidades walk with a feline-like gait when upon the ground. They are homeothermic (warm blooded,) and have a relatively high metabolism. They generally grow to a maximum size of 10 feet at the shoulder. Felidades are highly intelligent (as are most dragons) and maintain a highly ridged social structure amongst themselves. They are very honorable, and will enlist in the service of those to whom they owe debts.

Hobgoblins

Hobgoblins originated in European folklore as household spirits (which probably evolved from a form of ancient ancestor worship,) and played a similar role to goblins, brownies, pixies, etc. They were generally not seen as "evil," but would play tricks if not given the proper respect.
In modern fantasy fiction, Hobgoblins are a larger, stronger, brutish form of goblin. They are usually a greenish color, have features of various animals (claws, pig noses, etc.) and are mostly beholden to some figure of greater evil.

Orcs

Orcs were originally envisioned by J.R.R. Tolkien in his celebrated Lord of the Rings trilogy. Tolkien may have derived the word from "Orke," which in old English described a giant, ogre, or troll. In fantasy fiction, Orcs are usually large, strong, barbaric humanoids with traits of various animals (fangs, snouts, pointed ears, etc.) Tolkien's orcs were the bastardized twisted spawn of tortured Elves. They tend to be cleaver but generally less intelligent than human beings, usually in service to a more powerful evil force (wizard, demon, etc.) and always attack en masse.

Goblin

Goblins were originally household spirits in European Pagan belief. "Goblins" went by many different names - Hob, hobgoblin, brownie, nixie, tomte, etc. Generally, such "faire folk" were helpful around the house unelss offended, by which they would then perform pranks and mischief. Such a belief in household spirits may have evolved from ancient ancestor worship.
Modern fantasy fiction has recreated the Goblin into a small, pig-like, gruntish humaniod of limited intelligence. Generally they tend to swarm by the thousands, are the antithisis of Dwarves, and tend to fall under the command of beings more powerful than themselves (wizards, demons, etc.)

Lindworm

The Lindworm was a specific type of dragon, classified by two legs, no wings, and a long snake-like body. Some speculate that it merely refers to a stage in a dragon's growth cycle where extra wings or legs have not yet developed. Belief in Lindworms was prevalent all throughout Europe, where they were sighted in village wells and other water sources. Marco Pollo reported seeing Lindworms on the Asian steppes.
