In Frank Herbert's novel
The Jesus Incident, E-Clones are cloned human beings who are created for specific tasks. As such they are depicted as coming in many different shapes and sizes - tall, skinny, dwarves, giants, as well as with many different configurations of body parts - skinny necks, large floppy ears, huge eyes, small eyes, long ropey arms, etc. They are generally treated as subhumans but are given full status at the end.
Very interesting. I have never read the Jesus Incident by Frank Herbert before, so before I saw this entry on your blog I actually didn't know that he wrote anything but the Dune series.
ReplyDeleteI then looked up this book on Wikipedia, and I think I'll try to read the book sometime if I can find it.
