Umibōzu

The Umibōzu is a Japanese Yokai, or spirit. The name translates to English as "Sea Monk." It is supposedly gray colored, with a large, bald head resembling that of a Buddhist Monk, with multiple serpentine limbs. Although there are many representations of this creature in the form of an octopus or squid (mainly due to the "serpentine limbs,") the actual legends of the Umibōzu read more like contemporary reports of "Shadow People."
