Jack-o'-lantern

An old Irish folktale tells of a greedy farmer named Jack, who was approached one day by the Devil. He tricks the Devil into climbing a tree, then traps him there by carving a cross into the bark. Jack allows the Devil to leave only after a promise to never take his soul.

Years pass and Jack eventually dies, however he was far too greedy to gain entry into heaven. Jack approaches Hell but is denied entry as well. When he asks how he will see in the gloom between worlds, Satan mockingly throws him a coal from the fires of Hell that will burn for eternity. Jack hollows out a pumpkin to place the coal inside, then wanders the Earth, forever searching for a resting place.

Happy Halloween everyone.

Cyclops

The Cyclops originated from Greek Mythology. According to the poet Hesiod they are giants with a single eye in the middle of their foreheads, and are strong, stubborn, and "abrupt of emotion." They are originally defeated by the old Titans and placed in prison, but are later released by the Gods. In return the Cyclopes forge the weapons of the Gods - Zeus' thunderbolts, Poseidon's trident, Artemis' bow, etc. After Cronus is overthrown they become assistants to the smith god Hephaestus.

Umibōzu

The Umibōzu is a Japanese Yokai, or spirit. The name translates to English as "Sea Monk." It is supposedly gray colored, with a large, bald head resembling that of a Buddhist Monk, with multiple serpentine limbs. Although there are many representations of this creature in the form of an octopus or squid (mainly due to the "serpentine limbs,") the actual legends of the Umibōzu read more like contemporary reports of "Shadow People."

Skeletal Dragon

The animated remains of ancient dragons, a Skeletal Dragon retains none of the memories of it's former majestic existence. Although the dragon retains it's large wing structure, it cannot fly due to lack of skin and membrane and thus cannot achieve lift. They they are usually employed by powerful magic users as guardians and such.

Cactus Man

Another rendition of a Cactus man, wearing clothing. Although they are highly xenophobic, the Cactus men have adopted certain traits from humanity. In addition to the occasional Cactus man seen wearing clothing, they also have also been seen playing guitars, using fire arms, and have a working postal system.

Ilkley Moor Alien

On December 1st, 1987 policeman Phillip Spencer spotted a strange creature on Illkley Moor in Yorkshire, England. The creature seemed to be making gestures indicating "stay away." Spencer managed to get a blurry photograph, which shows a humanoid creature about 4 feet tall, with long arms and a blueish tint to it's skin. After noticing an instance of "Lost time" around the episode, Spencer decided to undergo regressive hypnosis and regained more memories, most of them typical of abduction experiences - artificial levitation, medical examinations, a strong environmental message. Along with this came further descriptions of the creature, such as their "funny feet" and three fingered hands, with fat fingers "like sausages."

Was the Illkley Moor alien real? Unfortunately the photograph is too gainy to be conclusive. However due to the integrity of the witness this case remains one of the more credible.

Revenant

A Revenant is a ghost or animated corpse in medieval belief, often returned to terrorize the living. Those who lead greedy, self-serving lives were likely to return as the walking dead. Revenants were also known to return to enact revenge (for example, against the one who murdered them,) or to give warnings.

In "A Christmas Carol," Ebenezer Scrooge's deceased business partner Jacob Marley returns as a Revenant.

Moon Shambler

Large, insect-like mammals that scour the Moon's surface for space plankton. Moon Shamblers move in herds across the vast dry plains, migrating around the Moon once per month in order to stay within direct sunlight. These 20 foot animals are able to survive in the vacuum of space by using a form of photosynthesis to obtain oxygen from direct sunlight through the small bulbous organs located on their skin.

Mantisoid Alien

Mantisoids are among the many different types of aliens reported by abductees around the world. They are described as tall, with six legs, and a peaceful demeanor. Although they speak to each other in clicks, they are able to communicate with other beings via telepathic abilities. Mantisoids have been seen during abductions working alongside other alien types such as the Grays or Reptilians, usually performing various types of medical experiments.
