Musphanus

The Musphanus are a strange species, sharing characteristics of both plants and animals. They are small, rodent-like creatures, which develop from budding pods from large trees. After birth the creatures then live in large communal warrens beneath the birth-trees, feeding it and protecting it from harm.

Treantart

Treantarts are a subspecies of the Tanteert race, spawned from environmental pressures on a long distant planet over the course of several hundred thousand years of divergent evolution. Like Tanteerts, they have extremely long life spans. They tend to be more "laid back" than their distant cousins, and usually find work as comedians, night club entertainers, or media personalities.

Blubloite

Blubloites are a race descended from water borne plants. The multi-colored bulbs on their extremities are organs used to process sunlight in a chemical reaction similar to photosynthesis. The bulbs are often shed, and as the creature ages they grow back less frequently. Older members of the species often wear prosthetic bulbs (especially on their heads) for vanity reasons.

Blubloites are highly territorial, and do not tolerate outsiders on their homeworld except in specially designated areas.

Tanteert

Tanteerts are sentient trees. As they possess very limited locomotion by themselves, they tend to use artificial means to move about. Tanteerts are highly pacifistic, and abhor war in all it's forms. They have very long lifespans compared to other sentients, and have a very long oral history. They tend to be scientists, teachers, or philosophers.

Chiment

Chiments are short, mobile creatures evolved from plant-based organisms. As they get food from photosynthesis they do not possess mouths. As such the Chiments use a complicated system of hand signs and pheromones to communicated. They are generally peaceful, and tend to end up as writers, philosophers, and other creative occupations.

Shlub

Shlubs are animals that use extensive camouflage to disguise themselves as bushes and shrubs. During their neophyte stage they are mobile, but as they mature they become rooted in a single spot. Eighty percent of the creature's body is underground, including it's digestive tract and all of it's major organs. Mature Shlubs feed off of passing birds, squirrels, and insects, and can go months without feeding. They are also able to regrow the portion of their bodies which protrude above ground.

Ya-Te-Veo

The Ya-Te-Veo is a carnivorous tree said to inhabit Central and South America. It has been described as having a short, think trunk topped with multiple tendril-like branches that catch and secure prey. There are unconfirmed reports from the 19th century of Indian tribes which sacrificed victims to the trees.

MarshRot

A MarshRot is a gigantic piles of fetid, stinking vegetation. The exact method by which these masses of swamp form and move about remains a mystery. They possess a rudimentary "skeletal system" of roots and vines, which clump together pockets of soil upon which other plants grow in a symbiotic relationship. The only animal element of the creature seem to be it's eyes, which are of an insect-like nature.

Treent

Treents are anthropomorphic, walking trees that live deep in ancient forests around the world. They tend to have the characteristics of the dominant tree of the forest they live in (Spruce, Maple, Redwood, etc.) and thus come in all different shapes and sizes. They are slow moving, highly protective of their territory, and extremely leery of outsiders. They will often attack loggers, lumberjacks, hikers, or other intruders without provocation.
