A Scrolunmite is an artificial being, similar to a golem or homunculus. They are created from a vile mixture of flesh and insect venom, then animated by dark powers. The resulting creature is very large and strong, and will obey it's master's will to a point. However the longer the creature is allowed to exist, the more independent it will become.

Frankenstien's Monster
The ghoulishly strong monster created by a mad scientist in 1818, the Frankenstien's monster was never given a name in the official narrative. The creature is not described much beyond being large, ugly, and ogreish. The process by which he is created is not described in detail either, although it is hinted that various raw materials (including body parts) are included. Much of what has become the modern version of the monster (i.e. the flat head, prominent brow ridge, bolts in the neck, zombie-like locomotion, largely inarticulate groaning, green skin, etc) comes from the 1931 Universal film.

Golem

Golems are artificial beings and originate from Jewish folklore. They are usually overlarge "men" created from clay, and animated by placing holy words in the mouth on slips of paper or written on the creature itself. The Golem will be deactivated when the paper is removed or the words altered. Golems generally serve as protectors of communities, but may also be created as personal servants or for specific missions. They have very low intelligence and a tendency to run wild.
